Using the simple shapes in Word, I have created a flow chart for an algorithm outlining a student's after school activities. This can be adopted and changed to suit a multitude of scenarios. Brainstorm with students as to the 'what' and 'why' behind their flowchart/algorithm creation. Giving it purpose and meaning will increase student learning outcomes.
