I really love the Global Digital Citizen Foundation's (GDCF) Solution Fluency resources. The first topic/section is all titled "DEFINE", which itself is broken down into a few headings:
* Restating/rephrasing the problem
* Challenging assumptions
* Researching and gathering facts
* Chunking details together/breaking them down (Abstraction/Decomposition)
* Considering multiple perspectives
* Reversing the problem
I would use these as discussion topics to structure the investigation into problem identification for an app project. This then leads into the next Solution Fluency skill of DISCOVER.
This lesson idea certainly needs further tweaking as I am new to this year group. Topics I would encourage the students to explore would be Indigenous culture, inspiring indigenous people, or sustainability/recycling.
