Emmanuelle Pratt▸ Digital Technologies in Society (Task 2)
I am sharing an app my brother told me about when I last visited him in France.
The app is called "Blablacar" and links people who want to travel somewhere, but don't have a means of transport, with people who have a means of transport, and are travelling to that destination.
The people are put in contact through the app and agree on a small fee to be paid by the person requiring the lift.
Importantly, when choosing your ride, you look at a Blabla rating: this is about how much of a talker you are:
Blablabla people are people who love talking and will probably chat for the whole trip.
Blabla are people who enjoy chatting a bit, but not the whole time.
Bla are laconic beings…
So users are able to be paired with someone who shares their preference in terms of how much chatting they enjoy! A great idea. My brother uses this app a lot, and tells me it is very popular in Europe (not sure if it is used in Australia).
