App testing and debugging in the classroom:
The students’ task was to create a simple app . First, I checked their initial design, flowcharts and prototypes to ensure there were no issues before beginning the coding process. During the coding process, issues arose which were usually syntax or semantic errors. Students were referred back to examples created previously and in most cases were able to correct their own errors. As their initial designs were thoroughly checked, there were no need for any drastic structural redesign. They then swapped with a partner to try each other’s apps and take notes as feedback for the other student, making suggestions on how to improve it.
