In 1982, users who wanted to create drawings were more likely to work on an office desktop computer, rather than at a dedicated graphics terminal. The advent of personal computers as a viable office computing platform opened the door to CAD programs running on desktops instead of the dedicated graphics terminals that had been the industry standard for many years. Many CAD users who were interested in drawing as a hobby or side business, instead of as a means of making a living, were disappointed to learn that their CAD could not run on personal computers. In the years that followed, the situation improved as desktop CAD programs emerged and the development of graphics hardware allowed for more powerful graphics capability. To understand AutoCAD’s role in the history of CAD, we must first understand how the CAD industry evolved over the years.
History of CAD
Before personal computers and mobile devices, CAD was expensive and slow. CAD required powerful mainframe computers and sophisticated interface hardware to display 3D objects, vector graphics, and render colors and textures to display surfaces. Mainframe computers were built to solve difficult technical problems. They were expensive, large, and hard to move. Using them in a typical office environment meant moving the mainframe to the location of a CAD operator. Moving the large mainframe computer or its attendant interface hardware was a significant investment. It also required some technical know-how.
Until the 1980s, the dominant design software industry was centered around mainframe-based CAD. Mainframe-based CAD was slow and expensive. The mainframe was built for a single CAD user, who worked at a dedicated CAD terminal. Drawing updates required the CAD user to wait for the operating system to update the graphics screen, move the CAD operator to another screen, and perform another update on the mainframe computer. A year was wasted between any two drawing updates.
CAD as a hobby or side business, not as a means of making a living, was the norm until the 1980s. For the majority of hobbyists, CAD was a difficult, expensive way to earn a living. Most people who tried to make a living from CAD work as freelance CAD consultants. They would set up shop in an area where they could park a mainframe CAD system. 1. Field of the Invention
The present invention generally relates to an IC tester, and particularly to an IC tester capable of examining an IC semiconductor device by use of a board having at least a predetermined number of IC sockets disposed thereon.
2. Description of the Related Art
In an IC tester, it is important to control the temperature of a semiconductor device to be measured at a specific temperature, and also to accurately detect a temperature rise of the semiconductor device to prevent a defective operation. Therefore, it is required to measure the temperature rise of the semiconductor device while keeping the temperature of the semiconductor device to be measured at a specific temperature by means of a heater or a thermistor, and at the same time, to keep the temperature rise of the semiconductor device to be measured at an allowable range in order to allow a normal operation of the semiconductor device.
When IC semiconductor devices are measured with use of an IC tester, IC sockets for receiving the IC semiconductor devices are disposed on a board, and a board mounting the IC sockets is mounted on the IC tester.
The temperature of the IC semiconductor device is controlled by means of a heater or a thermistor mounted on the IC socket. The IC socket is a member for receiving the IC semiconductor device, and a head plate to which a front end of the IC socket is attached is mounted on a body of the IC tester. The head plate is a member for supporting the IC socket.
The head plate is supported by a connection part called a pedestal which is provided on the body of the IC tester. The IC socket is supported by the head plate. In a case where the IC semiconductor device is not attached on the IC socket, the temperature of the IC semiconductor device is controlled by means of a heat sink which is mounted on the IC semiconductor device. On the other hand, in a case where the IC semiconductor device is attached on the IC socket, the temperature of the IC semiconductor device is controlled by means of a heater which is mounted on the IC socket. The heat sink is attached on the head plate at a side opposed to the IC socket.

A new drawing area in the Markup Taskbar (part of the Taskbar) makes it easy to quickly insert, delete, and move the different markup objects in your drawing.
In the example in the video, I’m importing large images to my drawing by dragging and dropping them into the Markup Taskbar. (The Markup Taskbar is the default drawing area. It shows up with the blue border if you don’t have a custom default layout.)
Important: Although it was possible in earlier versions of AutoCAD to add marking content to the AutoCAD window or directly to the drawing, Markup Import and Markup Assist now doesn’t work that way. This restriction ensures that users can’t accidentally create a blank drawing with markup when you want to view or edit a drawing created with the old way.
I’m also using Markup Assist (also known as Markup Assistant) to do the importing. Markup Assist is now included with all versions of AutoCAD. I’m creating the new markings using the Markup objects you see in the Markup Taskbar.
Since Markup Assist is part of the Taskbar, you can quickly view and edit your markings without needing to open the entire Taskbar.
Incorporate the traditional shape-based selection icons (circles, lines, polylines, and polygonal selections) into AutoCAD. This allows users to quickly create individual line or polygon markings in your drawing.

Importing markings created in Markup Assistant:
If you want to import the markings made with the Markup objects in Markup Assistant into your drawing, click the arrow in the Markup Taskbar, and then choose Insert markup from the drop-down menu.
Then choose Markup Assistant from the Import from menu, and click the Arrow next to Markup Assistant to select the drawing that contains the markings you want to import.
(If you’re not in the drawing’s preview mode, you can choose the Drawing Library from the Import from menu instead.)
